Kurt Jewell wins big at the WSOPC
Kurt Jewell, a noted professional poker player, recently emerged as the champion of the 2010 World Series of Poker Circuit (WSOPC), which was reported to be the largest of its kind in gaming history.
The WSOPC 2010 drew a large crowd of 872 players to its $1,500 buy-in games; out of this number, 90 players walked away with cash prizes. The primary goal of the WSOPC $1,500 event was the generous prize package of $242,090 that was up for players to win; the lucky winner would also get a WSOPC ring and entry to the $10,000 Regional championship and the National Championship Tournament, scheduled to be held in Las Vegas next May.
Kurt Jewell dominated the table at Horseshoe Casino at Hammond in Indiana, where the WSOPC tournament was held, and took in 6.8 million chips. This large chip lead put him so far ahead of his opponents that it allowed him to relax during most of the 12 hour poker battle that went on for 2 days. Jewell played it cool at the WSOPC and watched his opponent Edwin Choi, who held 2.6 million chips eliminate Casey Hayes, while Jared Kenworthy eliminated Daniel Cohen. Bryan Devonshire, the WSOPC 2010 Rincon champion, was unfortunate enough to have a bad beat.
However, Jewell’s monster chip stack was noted to have diminished considerably after the dinner break, but the player succeeded in building it up again when only four players were left at the table. Choi was the first to be eliminated and Jewell eliminated Reynolds in the third position. Finally, only Jewell and Kenworthy were left at the table with Jewell holding 12 million chips against Kenworthy’s five million. It took Jewell over one hour to finally eliminate Kenworthy and emerge as the champion.
Jewell will now participate in the first Regional Championship tournament at the Horseshoe Casino, a $10,000 event, which will be broadcast on the Versus Network.
